Here we go. Rehearsals have started, props are being built, costumes are distributed (or on their way) and dozens of pictures taken and edited. Lovestruck is less than a month away!

April Updates

Our third and final major release of information is now available. Some of the information is in the packets you received at picture day. If you didn't get your packet, they are available in the RFSC office. Most of the new information centers around Show Week including schedules, where to go, what to do and how to get in. For convenience, the new information is bundled below and all articles are available in the menus above. Be sure to look over all of the information carefully.

Finally, please consider being a Gym Monitor for rehearsals or show nights, we really need your help there. See the Gym Monitors section for details.

Ok, one more thing before we get to the new information . . . Cast party tickets are still available in our Online Store. Show tickets are also available through midnight Thursday, April 18 at Eventbrite.

Ice Show: 3rd Information Bundle (L2S Skaters)

The information presented below is our third information release for the RFSC 2024 Ice Show. All items are also available under the menus above. They are bundled here for your convenience.

Learn2Skate Gym Monitors

We need you!

To ensure the safety and readiness of all children for each rehearsal and performance during Ice Show Week, parents or other adult volunteers must be available in each show number’s designated meeting area (the Rec Center gym) for each rehearsal and performance. This means we need two volunteers from your skater’s group each night beginning Wednesday, April 17, through the final performance on Sunday, April 21.

Gym monitors:

  • Ensure that children:
    • Stay safe
    • Remain in the designated area, quietly playing or sitting
    • Have help with laces, hair, etc. if needed
    • Are not wearing bobby pins
    • Are ready to line up when called for the performance
  • Report to the meeting area (the Rec Center gym) at the same time that your skater is told to report for the rehearsal or show. Specific times can be found on the sign up list.
  • Ensure that skaters are signed in and out on your group’s attendance sheet
  • Ensure that a cell phone number is collected as an emergency contact for each skater
  • Remain in the designated area within the gym until the skaters leave for their performance and be back in the gym area when they return from their performance
  • Remain in the gym area until all skaters have been picked up and checked out by their parent or guardian
  • Remove trash and clean the area at the end of each evening

The total time for each shift is approximately one hour.

Please plan to sign up for at least one shift as a monitor. Signup online on the Ice Show Gym Monitors volunteer page. If we don't have enough volunteers to cover the groups, parents will need to stay with their skater while in the gym.

If you are unable to perform a shift, please work with other show parents, family members or adult friends to find coverage for your shift. Please note this on the sign up list so it's clear that each parent’s shift has been covered.

Thank you for your help in making this year’s Ice Show a success once again!

Show Week Rehearsal Information

The week of the show, Monday, April 15Thursday, April 18, will be our Show Week Dress and Tech Rehearsals. Attendance is required at these rehearsals.

See the Show Week Rehearsal Schedule for the approximate times that your number(s) will rehearse. Show performances are April 1921: Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon.

Monday Rehearsal

No Tuesday show week rehearals for Learn2Skate this year.

Learn2Skate groups will rehearse on Monday. Skaters will wear their costumes for these rehearsals.

To avoid congestion in the skate-change area, one of the hockey locker rooms will be used as the Learn2Skate skate-change area for Monday night’s rehearsal. Look for posted signs for the location.

See the Show Week Rehearsal Schedule for approximate rehearsal times. Please be in costume and skates, prepared to step on the ice, 15 minutes before your scheduled rehearsal time.

Wednesday & Thursday Rehearsals

Wednesday and Thursday night rehearsals are our technical rehearsals. They are our only opportunity to set lights and deal with the technical aspects of the performance. We may need to stop occasionally to work out issues so please be patient. Please be at the rink, in costume, at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time. And, you guessed it, see the Show Week Rehearsal Schedule for the approximate time for your number(s).

We will use the gym as the Learn2Skate locker room beginning with the Wednesday dress rehearsal.

Gym: Learn2Skate groups will use the Rec Center gym for their locker room. Skaters assigned to the gym should enter the Rec Center at the north entrance (door 7). To avoid traffic congestion please do not drop skaters off at the east entrance (sliding doors/door 1). See Rec Center Site Map for location. Parents are welcome to watch the rehearsal from the bleachers. This would be a good chance to make a video of your skater's number.

Snacks: As needed, you may provide snacks and water for your skater in their designated meeting area.

Important: For safety reasons, parents and skaters will not be allowed to pass through the area between the two ice rinks. If they need access to the other side, they will need to use the catwalk upstairs.

Show Days Information

Show Information

Information for Everyone

Reminder: Parents who wish to see any part of the show from the bleachers must purchase a ticket. TV monitors will be set up in the gym and the skate change area for those not purchasing tickets.

Special needs seating is available on the west side of the arena. See the Special Needs Seating section for information.

  • Entrances to the arena will open one hour before show time.
  • Skater’s badges were distributed on Picture Day. Wear this badge on all show days to get in and to gain access to certain areas of the rink.
  • Costumes and Make-up: Skaters provide and apply their own makeup unless told otherwise. When fixing hair do not use bobby pins. If one falls on the ice, it can be very dangerous if a skater skates over it.
  • Skates should be polished, laces clean and tucked in for safety and appearance. Costumes and accessories should be securely fastened. Please wear your skate guards when traveling to and from the ice, but remember to take them off when getting on the ice. There will be a table near the ice to leave guards and jackets, etc. NO CHEWING GUM AT ANY TIME!!!

Locker Rooms

  • Gym: Learn2Skate groups will use the Rec Center gym for their locker room. Skaters assigned to the gym should enter the Rec Center at the north entrance which leads directly to the gym. Parents: please pick up your skater in the gym immediately following their number.
  • Snacks: As needed, you may provide snacks and water for your skater in their designated meeting area.

Skater Etiquette:

  • Whenever entering the audience, please remember that those around you have paid for a ticket. Always enter or leave between show numbers (not during a number).
  • Skaters are asked to please refrain from excessive cheering or screaming while the announcer is speaking. Those around you who have paid for their tickets want to be able to hear the announcer.
  • While seated in the audience, skaters should have their costume covered. Spot lights can pick up sparkle on your costume and be distracting to the audience.
  • PLEASE DO NOT RESERVE SEATS by leaving blankets, coats, etc., over empty blocks of seats. If found they will be removed and placed in lost and found. If you want to sit in a specific area, you must stay in those places until show time. No exceptions.

Special Needs Seating

A limited number of pre-assigned seating (blue chairs with backs on the west side of the arena) will be available for audience members with special needs. Since there are only a few of these seats, we request that they be reseved only by those who can’t sit elsewhere.

A signup sheet will be posted in the rink area on Monday, April 8 for you to choose the seats you’d like to reserve.

Sunday’s show usually fills the reserved seating area, so please sign up early. We ask that each skater’s family try to limit the number of reserved seats for Sunday to no more than four if possible. Keep in mind that these reserved seats are not meant to be used for all senior citizens, but should be used at your discretion for those with special needs who find it impossible to sit in a regular seat or have mobility issues using stairs.
