The 2012 RFSC Ice Show will be held April 20, 21 and 22, 2012 at the Rochester Recreation Center. The show is a large-scale production involving spotlights, props, and special effects. It is a wonderful learning experience for skaters of all ability levels and we encourage everyone to participate.

As with every show, there is a lot of information to pass on this year so please be sure to read through all of the articles in the Learn2Skate menu you before you begin registration.

Participants are expected to skate in all three performances!

NOTE: Learn2Skate boys will be grouped together in a number with other boys. We work hard to choose fun "boy-friendly" costumes and choreography.

While we take skater safety very seriously, skaters must be willing to skate without a helmet in the ice show due to costume restrictions.

To participate in the 2011 RFSC Ice Show, you must do the following:
  • Skate in group lessons during Fall 2 and Winter Sessions.
  • Register for the show session online by November 5 (November 19 for Preschool/Kindergarten).
  • Pay the costume fee
    Preschool/Kindergarten: $50
    Learn2Skate High and Low: $55
    JPSE: $60
    .
  • Pay for the Show Session
    Preschool/Kindergarten: $40
    Learn2Skate: $55
    JPSE: $75

This amount pays for rehearsal lessons.
Payment may be made online by credit card or your PayPal account or by cash or check by the due date in the office.
Registration Deadline

Online registration with the appropriate non-refundable costume fee and full payment for the show session must be completed by November 5, 2011 (Learn2Skate and JPSE skaters). Late registrations (Nov. 6 - Nov. 10) may be accepted on a space-available basis and a $10 late processing fee will be charged. Preschool/Kindergarten group skaters have an extended deadline of November 19, 2011.

Ice Show Registration Notes:

By completing the online registration you will be agreeing to participate in the Ice Show and to the following:

  1. Skater is responsible for their own measurements and understands that they are responsible for any size alterations that are needed.
  2. Costumes cannot be returned or exchanged for different sizes. PLEASE MEASURE CAREFULLY!
  3. Costumes may not be altered before pictures without approval from the costume committee.
  4. Costumes must be worn as directed by the costume committee and show director – NO EXCEPTIONS.
  5. Skaters may not wear their costumes prior to show performances, except at the request or approval of the costume committee and/or show director. Costumes must also be covered if worn by skaters in the audience during show performances or any show rehearsals.
  6. Group photos taken on show picture day in March will be publicized in our show program and displayed in the RFSC communication showcases downstairs at the rink.
  7. The Rochester Figure Skating Club does not control photos that are taken by outside media sources. By registering for the show, you acknowledge that photos may be taken by members of the media during practices and show week performances.
  8. Skaters and parents must respect all fellow skaters, volunteers and directors of the ice show. Many hours are spent preparing for an outstanding show that is fun for skaters as well as pleasing to the audience. Please be considerate of others to make it a positive experience for all involved.

Ice Show Registration Days

In order to make things easier for you, we will have Registration Days where you can sign up, have help with costume measurements and talk with someone if you have any specific questions. These days will be Tuesday, November 1 (6:00-7:00pm), Thursday, November 3 (6:00-7:00pm) and Saturday, November 5 (11:30am-12:30pm).

Rehearsals

Show rehearsals will be held from March 8 - April 14, 2012 (no rehearsals March 29 - April 8 for Spring Break). Please note: Rehearsals begin with the Thursday group on March 8.

To ensure the quality of the ice show numbers, skaters may not miss more than one rehearsal during show session and must be present for ALL show-week rehearsals (April 16-22, 2012).

Skaters rehearse one day per week during the show session, using the time to learn their show routines (Extra days may be contracted at a later date for continued group basic skills lessons). Learn2Skate girls: please indicate your first and second rehearsal day preferences on the show permission form. This will enable us to attempt to place skaters in groups with other skaters of a similar level.
