Registration is now open for the Winter 2009 Junior Club and Junior Program for Skating Exellence (JPSE) group lessons. Registration forms are available for download in PDF format. Please Note: Skaters participating in the 2009 Ice Show must participate in the Fall 2 and Winter sessions. Junior ClubSuitable for skaters interested in learning the basic skating skills required for figure skating and ice hockey. This session includes Preschool/Kindergarten, Junior Club and Adult group lessons. Winter Session Junior Program for Skating Excellence (JPSE)Open to skaters who have completed Basic 4 through Pre-Preliminary, have an interest in skating more than once a week and wish to accelerate through the badge system. Skaters previously enrolled may continue without regard to test level. Curriculum adapted from the US Figure Skating Bridge Program. Winter Session Junior Club Freestyle IceSuitable for skaters working on Basic 1 through Freeskate 6 who are interested in taking private lessons on an introductory level freestyle session. This session is also ideal for skaters wishing to prepare to compete in the Hiawathaland US Figure Skating Basic Skills Competition held in Rochester on February 8, 2009. If you are interested in competing, please talk to your coach. The competition registration deadline is December 20, 2008. Skaters registering for this session have the opportunity to take lessons on a session dedicated to freestyle skating. Private or semi-private lessons are highly recommended on this session. Private and semi-private lesson fees are payable monthly and are in addition to the session ice fee. Hiawathaland Basic Skills CompetitionLearn to CompeteThe RFSC is pleased to introduce our first group lesson “Learn to Compete” class. In this 4 week class your skater will learn a routine (without music, competed on a half sheet of ice). Skaters will then participate in our RFSC Hiawathaland US Figure Skating Basic Skills Competition on Sunday, February 8, 2009. Classes are Saturdays, January 10, 17, 24, 31. Skate RaceWe will also hold our first annual SKATE RACE during the Hiawathaland US Figure Skating Basic Skills Competition on Sunday, February 8, 2009. This is designed as a fun competition for entry level skaters ranging from Snow Plow (Preschool/Kindergarten) through Basic 4 and for hockey players (Hockey 1-4). Skaters will skate the width of the rink, the length of the rink, or laps around the rink depending on their level. All skaters will receive an award. Download: {docs}skaterace2009{/docs} 3rd Annual Basic Skills CompetitionThe Hiawathaland Basic Skills competion will be held on Sunday February 8, 2009. If you are taking the Learn to Compete class and/or plan to compete in the skate race, you must also fill out and return thic competition form. Now ShowingRFSC's 71st Annual Ice ShowShow Session The 2009 RFSC Ice Show will be held April 17, 18, and 19, 2009. The show is a large-scale production involving spotlights, props, and special effects. It is a wonderful learning experience for skaters of all ability levels, and we encourage everyone to participate. Participants are expected to skate in all three performances!
All classes, rehearsals, and the ice show will be held at the Rochester Recreation Center. Refer to the Ice Show Information Center for more details. There is a Junior Club section in the menu on the left hand side. See the registration forms for more information. Return the appropriate form and payment to the RFSC office.
