Welcome to the home page of the Rochester Figure Skating Club, an affiliate of US Figure Skating. We offer a variety of classes and programs for those just learning to skate - children and Adults - as well as the competitive skater. Our professionals and coaches are skilled at teaching singles, dance, and synchronized skating.

Join Rhythm & Blades!

New synchronized skating teams are being formed now. Skaters who are in the JPSE or Advanced Junior Club programs and have passed at least Basic 8 may join the Beginner team. Freestyle skaters below the Preliminary MIF level are also welcome on this team.

Skaters who are interested in participating on the Beginner team should sign up by filling out a registration form and turning it in to the RFSC office. A Parent & Skater Meeting for the Beginner team will be held Wednesday May 14th at 7:30 pm in the Bob Fick room located upstairs in the Rec Center.

Higher level skaters who are interested in joining a team should contact Vikki Dalquist.

Our show video is produced this year by Videyo Arts. If you ordered during the show and did not request direct shipping, they will be available at our Annual Meeting on Sunday May, 18. If you have not yet ordered, you may do so on the Videyo Arts website: http://www.videyoarts.com/ViDeyoArts2008/rochfsc.html. You may order yours to be delivered at the meeting or sent directly to you for $5.00 shipping and handling.

Cast Photo
The cast photo will be available soon. There will be links to download electronic versions and we will take orders for one batch of printed copies. Watch the website for more information.

Show Survey
If you have not completed a show survey, please download it here or pick one up in the office and return it by May 1st. We value your input! While we can't implement each and every suggestion, many of our current "great ideas" have come from these surveys.

2008 Summer Schedule

The Schedule for our 2008 Summer Session is now available for download. The package includes the schedule for our Summer 2008 session and information about fees for the various classes. Registration will begin in early May and run through Wednesday, May 21. The session will run for 11 weeks from June 9 through August 22. You may again omit one week without charge. Please be aware that there will be some cancelled sessions during the National Showcase week.

Competitive Training Seminar
May 10 & 11, 2008

Rochester Figure Skating Club will host the second annual Comptitive Training Seminar at the Rochester Recreation Center. This year's seminar will be a world class training camp featuring Grassroots to Champions with Audrey Weisiger, Chris Conte and other guest coaches.

Cost for the two day seminar is $185 if your application is received or postmarked by April 1, 2008. After that date, the cost is $200. A parent track will be available for $30.

In conjunctinon with the seminar, you may purchase Grassroots to Champions recommended equipment at a reduced price. 2008 National Showcase at RFSC

The National Showcase Announcement Packet is now available for download. The registration deadline is June 23, 2008.

The Rochester Figure Skating Club has been selected by United States Figure Skating to host the 2008 National Showcase. The Showcase fuses artistic creativity with figure skating for single skaters, duets, small ensembles of three to seven and production numbers of eight to thirty. For more information, see the USFS National Showcase webpage or the Rochester Amateur Sports Commision website.

Dates for this competition are August 6-10, 2008. We will be looking for volunteers to help out. More information and registration materials will be available here soon.

World Junior Championships Coverage

U.S. Figure Skating has announced that icenetwork.com will provide LIVE and on-demand coverage of the entire World Junior Championships taking place this week in Sophia, Bulgaria (a high-speed internet connection is required). Access to this video will be FREE to everyone who registers (registration is required as some blackout restrictions apply). If you are already an icenetwork subscriber, or a registered user, use your username and password just like you usually do to watch video. Spring 2008 Group Lessons

Registration is now open for the Spring 2008 Junior Club and Advanced Junior Club and JPSE group lessons. The Junior Club session runs from April 21 through May 17, 2008, Advanced Junior Club from April 26 through May 19, 2008. Both sessions are 4 weeks. The Junior Program for Skating Exellence (JPSE) session runs from April 21 through May 19, 2008 (5 weeks).

The Registration deadline for all levels is April 12, 2008. See the Beginning Group Lessons page for more information. Please register by the deadline, because our classes have been filling up quickly.

Please note: Due to limited space, we are not accepting new applications for JC, AJC or JPSE show sessions. We are, however, accepting applications for the Preschool/Kindergarten show session. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Sabine Tetzloff.
