Skater Sign-in Policy Update

A revised Skater Sign-in Policy will be in effect starting with the Summer 2011 Ice Contract. Skaters will be charged a penalty for skating any session for which they have not signed in. Please see the Ice Schedule and Contract page for the full text of the policy.

The RFSC Board of Directors and its Ice and Rules committee have been charged with the task of reducing the losses we incur on our contract ice sessions. The only way we can do this is with accurate records. When skaters do not sign in, even if they would be charged for the session anyway, we cannot accurately track our income and expenses. It is imperative that we know who is skating which sessions by maintaining proper records.

It is our fiscal responsibility to ensure that all skaters are being billed properly and to ensure that all club members are being treated equally. Our only alternative will be a major increase in ice rates to better cover expenses.

Figure Skating Websites
Updated

We have some internet resources to call to your attention:

First, specifically for Beginner and Group Lesson skaters, we have a Facebook page to keep you informed with notices about last minute changes and new information as it is posted on the club's website. This is a special effort to help keep our newest skaters well informed.

And for everyone: we've updated our Basic Competition Information for Parents page. It's a good collection of information for those just getting started competing. We also have a few new fun skating links for you: Synchromom.net, Icecoach.net, Icemom.net, Icegirlblog.net. These links are also listed on our Cool Skating Links page.

Myskatingmall.com Open for Business

As a skater, skating coach, or parent, you may have heard the buzz about "myskatingmall.com." Myskatingmall is a website that will raise money for skating clubs and charities through the sale of new or gently used skating items. The brainchild of former world competitior Ryan Jahnke, Myskatingmall will benefit everyone in the skating world. Those of you who want to sell your skating dresses, accessories, skates, etc. have the perfect outlet to do it. For the first year, every listing is free, and a small percentage of sales will go to the skating club of your choice. Several businesses have joined Myskatingmall as partner stores, and that includes us at Sk8Strong Inc.

Help make Myskatingmall a success and support the clubs that build the foundation for our skaters!
